Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic Hijri calendar, is the holiest month for Muslims worldwide. It is the month in which the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and fasting during its days is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Ramadan 2027 (1449 AH) is expected to begin around February 17-18, 2027, with the exact date depending on the sighting of the crescent moon in each region.
The blessed month of Ramadan offers an unparalleled opportunity for spiritual growth, self-discipline, and drawing closer to Allah. Muslims around the world observe this month by fasting from dawn (Fajr) to sunset (Maghrib), increasing their prayers, reciting the Quran, giving generously in charity, and striving to improve their character and conduct. The rewards for good deeds during Ramadan are multiplied many times over, making it the most spiritually productive time of the year.
The companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) would begin preparing for Ramadan months in advance. They understood that entering the blessed month with preparation, intention, and a plan dramatically increases the benefit one receives. Without preparation, many Muslims find the first week of Ramadan difficult as their bodies and minds adjust to the new routine, effectively losing valuable days of worship.
Early preparation includes gradually increasing fasting days during the month of Sha'ban (the month before Ramadan), setting specific and measurable worship goals (such as completing the entire Quran), calculating and preparing your Zakat payment, planning your Sadaqah budget, and organizing your daily schedule to accommodate increased worship time.
The final ten nights of Ramadan are the most blessed nights of the entire year. Among them is Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power), which the Quran describes as better than a thousand months. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would intensify his worship during these nights, spending the entire night in prayer, supplication, and Quran recitation. Many Muslims perform I'tikaf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) during these final days to fully dedicate themselves to worship.
Ramadan is also a time when many Muslims choose to fulfill their financial obligations. Zakat (the obligatory 2.5% annual charity) is often paid during Ramadan for the multiplied reward. Zakat al-Fitr must be paid before Eid al-Fitr prayer at the end of Ramadan. Additionally, voluntary charity (Sadaqah) during Ramadan carries exponentially greater reward than at any other time.

Ramadan 2027 (1449 AH) is expected to begin around February 17-18, 2027, depending on moon sighting in your region. The exact date will be confirmed closer to the time.
Start fasting Mondays and Thursdays in Sha'ban, increase Quran recitation, settle any debts or disputes, calculate and pay due Zakat, set specific worship goals, and stock up on healthy suhoor foods.
A balanced Ramadan day includes Suhoor before Fajr, morning Quran recitation, Dhuhr and Asr prayers with adhkar, pre-Iftar dua, Maghrib prayer and meal, Isha and Taraweeh prayers, and late night Qiyam in the last 10 days.
Ramadan lasts either 29 or 30 days depending on the moon sighting. This is determined at the end of the month based on the crescent moon observation.
Intensify worship by performing I'tikaf if possible, seeking Laylat al-Qadr on odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th), increasing dua and Quran recitation, giving extra charity, and performing longer night prayers.
